Earn Your Stripes

Earn Your Stripes

Do you have a goal? Of getting somewhere? Or being someone or something? Getting to that destination may not be a piece of New York Cheesecake. It'd be great to get what you want or be where you want to be without even trying, but the honest truth is, you really have to work towards it. You have to earn your stripes.

Most successful people -if not all- will testify that hard work got them to where they are. For example, Edison's light bulb 'failed' 1000 times. He didn't give up throughout the process. In fact, the dude stated that the lightbulb was an invention with 1000 steps. Additionally, one of the most creative innovator that ever lived -Walt Disney- was actually kicked out of Kansas City Star because he "lacked imagination and had no good ideas." ..Cuhrazy.. And lastly, the legend: Steven Spielberg was actually rejected from USC School of Cinematic Arts MULTIPLE times. And there he goes creating the best blockbusters in Hollywood. 27 of his movies grossed over $9 billion. It's pretty shocking (and maybe even comforting) when you realize how much failure successful people experienced.

Personally, I'm very impatient. I demand results. I get motivated by it. My drive comes from seeing the outcome from my efforts. And when it's a long, grueling process where I'm constantly tripping over small pebbles, I become hellla discouraged. Doubts and fears come rushing in like tsunami waves, which causes my mental health to cripple into a sad raisin.

Earning your stripes can take time. Perhaps, a verryy long time with multiple steps. But I guess this is where faith comes in. Trust the process. Believe in the journey. Have faith in God.
